Sacred Truth Friday: Respect Our Fellow Christians

“We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 ESV

Respect those who labor among you. Be at peace with all. 

This is what we should be doing. Respecting those who labor among us meaning fellow Christians, our brothers and sisters in Christ. There should be no gossip, slander, division or fights among us, but only unity, peace and love. We should strive to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 

“eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

And, as New Testament Christians, we should live among peace with all, even with our enemies and those who have hurt us. 

“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.”

Be kind to our enemies and pray for them. 

Let's strive to respect our brothers and sisters in Christ and to live in peace among all.
