Poet's Corner Thursday: Teach Me To Number My Days

Teach Me To Number My Days  Another year has passed The seconds are ticking by Time goes by so fast Lord, teach me to number my days Keeping to Your perfect way My life is but a flower It blooms and then it fades I'm granted only so many hours Lord, teach me to number my days Keeping to Your perfect way Why waste my life on the meaningless and vain? It is so very short By your word let my heart be trained. Gospel Wednesday: 1 Corinthians Chapter 14: God, the Author of Peace

Image
1 Corinthians Chapter 14 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching? Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played? For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who wi

Memorial Day

Let's not forget what Memorial Day is really all about. The brave men and women who gave their lives for our country. American Hero "Now you don't you cry, my little girl I'll be back someday to give you hugs and kisses To put your hair up in curls." My five year old little heart quakes with a million fears "No Daddy! Please don't go!" Down my cheeks run fresh hot tears.... "Little pumpkin, please understand. It's my job to keep the bad guys away. To protect America to defend her to keep her safe. Don't worry. I'll be back someday." Daddy before he leaves gives Mommy a lover's kiss. Their love I can feel all around this house. While he is gone, him we will miss. He is an American Hero Answered his country's call during a time of war. To protect to defend her to keep her from harm. I go to the livingroom hoping for a bedtime story Oh no. Why is Mommy crying? Now my heart is filled with worry Mommy sees me says &q

Gospel Wednesday: 1 Corinthians Chapter 13: Power of Love

1 Corinthians Chapter 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For w

Gospel Wednesday: 1 Corinthians Chapter 12: Baptism

Image
1 Corinthians Chapter 12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the in

Sacred Truth Friday: Nothing Can Separate Us

Today's Devo All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Psalms 44:17‭-‬22 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.44.17-22.KJV Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor

Gospel Wednesday: 1 Corinthians Chapter 11: What If

Image
1 Corinthians Chapter 11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on

Yummy Recipe Monday: Chicken Fried Chicken

Chicken Fried Chicken 3 I love me some good ol' southern comfort food.  If that's what you're looking for, well let me tell you, this Chicken Fried Chicken TAKES.THE.CAKE.  (Yes, I did the whole caps lock with periods for emphasis thing right there.  That's how strongly I feel about this dish.) I'm sure you've heard of Chicken Fried Steak, which is pretty much the sister recipe to this one.  Same concept, just switch out the beef for chicken.  Trust me, we eat enough beef around here.  I prefer tender, juicy chicken breasts coated in a golden crispy crust covered in creamy peppery gravy...mmmm.  Throw a generous helping of silky smooth mashed potatoes on the side and you've got perfection on a plate.  Yum, yum and yum. This one'll stick to your ribs and leave your tummy satisfied, I can guarantee that.  My husband took one bite and gave me the, "This is good."  On the first bite.  Now that's success and makes me one happy mama.

Sacred Truth Friday: Truly Seek Him

Today's Devo As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. Psalms 42:1‭-‬6 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.42.1-6.KJV Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: f

Gospel Wednesday: 1 Corinthians Chapter 10: Learn from the Past

Image
1 Corinthians Chapter 10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed
