Sacred Truth Friday: Jesus Above All

Today's Devo Full Text 1 Join all the glorious names of wisdom, love, and pow'r, that ever mortals knew, that angels ever bore; all are too mean to speak His worth, too mean to set my Savior forth. 2 Great Prophet of my God, my tongue would bless Thy Name; by Thee the joyful news of our salvation came - the joyful news of sins forgiv'n, of hell subdued, and peace with heav'n. 3 Jesus, my great High Priest, offered His blood and died; my guilty conscience seeks no sacrifice beside: His pow'rful blood did once atone, and now it pleads before the throne. 4 My dear Almighty Lord, my Conqueror and King, Thy sceptre and Thy sword, Thy reigning grace I sing; Thine is the pow'r; behold I sit, in willing bonds, beneath Thy feet. 5 Now let my soul arise, and tread the tempter down; my Captain leads me forth to conquest and a crown. A feeble saint shall win the day, though death and hell obstruct the way. The eyes of your understandin

Gospel Wednesday: Acts Chapter 24: Don't Delay

Acts Chapter 24 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul. And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence, We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words. For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes: Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands, Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining

Sacred Truth Friday: Live for Him

Today's Devo May the grace of Christ our Saviour, and the Father's boundless love, with the Holy Spirit's favour, rest upon us from above. 2 Thus may we abide in union with each other and the Lord, and possess, in sweet communion, joys which earth cannot afford. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 KJV http://bible.com/1/gal.2.20.KJV His grace covers me. Live for Him. https://hymnary.org/text/may_the_grace_of_christ_our_savior_newto

Gospel Wednesday: Acts Chapter 23: Don't Fight Against God

Image
Acts Chapter 23 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest? Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people. But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. For the Sadducees say that ther

Sacred Truth Friday: All Praise to Him

Today's Devo Praise the Savior, ye who know Him! Who can tell how much we owe Him? Gladly let us render to Him All we are and have. 2 Jesus is the name that charms us, He for conflict fits and arms us; Nothing moves and nothing harms us While we trust in Him. 3 Keep us, Lord, O keep us cleaving To Thyself, and still believing, Till the hour of our receiving Promised joys with Thee. 4 Then we shall be where we would be, Then we shall be what we should be; Things that are not now, nor could be, Soon shall be our own In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Ephesians 1:11‭-‬12 KJV http://bible.com/1/eph.1.11-12.KJV All praise to Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross. Without I'm lost. Sacred Truth Friday: Acts Chapter 22: Be Baptized Calling on the Name of the Lord

Image
Acts Chapter 22 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you. (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,) I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul

Sacred Truth Friday: He Keeps Us Safe

Today's Devo Now the day is over; night is drawing nigh; shadows of the evening steal across the sky. 2 Jesus, give the weary calm and sweet repose; with your tend'rest blessing may our eyelids close. 3 Comfort ev'ry suff'rer watching late in pain; those who plan some evil, from their sin restrain. 4 Through the long night-watches may your angels spread their bright wings above me, watching round my bed. 5 When the morning wakens, then may I arise pure and fresh and sinless in your holy eyes. 6 Glory to the Father, glory to the Son, and to you, blest Spirit, while the ages run. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord , only makest me dwell in safety. Psalms 4:8 KJV http://bible.com/1/psa.4.8.KJV The Lord watches over my family and I, keeping us safe. We're in His strong hands and He is for our good. Praise to Him who keeps us safe. https://hymnary.org/text/now_the_day_is_over

Gospel Wednesday: Acts Chapter 21: Great Faith

Image
Acts Chapter 21 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara: And finding a ship sailing over unto Phoenicia, we went aboard, and set forth. Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden. And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem. And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed. And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again. And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day. And the

Sacred Truth Friday: Give Thanks

Today's Devo God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own. 2 Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine; so from the beginning the fight we were winning; thou, Lord, wast at our side; all glory be thine! 3 We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, and pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
