Gospel Wednesday: Ephesians Chapter 1: Christ Head of the one church

We are now in our study of Ephesians.

Ephesians Chapter 1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the…

Sacred Truth Friday: Fear God

Today's Devo

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7 NKJV

Fearing God is the beginning of knowledge.

We are to fear God and keep His commandments for this is our all (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
For He will bring all we do into judgment, whether good or bad (Ecclesiastes 12:14)

If you have not obeyed the Gospel then please obey today before it's everlasting too late.

The Gospel in a nutshell

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:1‭-‬4 KJV

Poet's Corner Thursday: He Left His Home Above

He Left His Home Above

He knew it would be a bitter cross
Knew it would be only pain and agony
Still He came for all of us
All of us to set free

He left His home above
To redeem you and me

He's hung on the cruel cross
His blood is flowing down
The God who created us
Gave His life. His love abounds!

Mary to the grave she came
To mourn her Lord who was slain
The angels brought her joyous news.
He's alive! Her hope renewed

He bids all sinners to Him come
Offering abundant peace and pardon
He wants to give you a heavenly home
Your heart oh please don't harden

Gospel Wednesday: Galatians Chapter 6: Reap What We Sow

Galatians Chapter 6

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load. Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. See…

Sacred Truth Friday: Temptation

Today's Devo

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

God will provide a way out of temptation. We must look for it and take it.

Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalms 119:11 NKJV

We must hide His Word in our hearts so we won't sin against Him.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the…

Poet's Corner Thursday: Judgment

Before His judgment seat I must appear
Will I, in assurance, be able to stand?

Will I be cast out with the devil?
Or join that holy band?

He'll separate people one from another
Will I be a vile goat or a holy lamb?

Will I feel forever the fire?
Or hold the Savior's hand?

Will I rejoice at His appearing?
Or shrink back in shame?

Will I be found righteous and pure?
Or suffer eternal torment having only myself to blame?

Will I receive rest when He comes?
Or suffer wrath from Him?

Will I be cast into the fiery lake?
Or into heaven be let in?

Am I prepared to meet my God?
Have I kept His Holy commands?

Preparation comes through obedience
Assurance by faithfulness

So cling to my Savior
And increase in holiness

Gospel Wednesday: Galatians Chapter 5: Walk by the Spirit

Galatians Chapter 5

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution…

Sacred Truth Friday: False Teachers

Today's Devo

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Matthew 7:15‭-‬20 NKJV

Beware of false teachers. You'll know them by their fruits (deeds).

Beware of false teachers who preach another gospel contrary to the true one.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Poet's Corner Thursday: Come to the Holy Fountain

Come To the Holy Fountain

Come to the Holy fountain
Have your sins washed away

He desires to forgive
Shed His grace on you abundantly

He'll make you like Him
Give you a brand new day

Haste to this Gospel call
It goes forth universally

Why should you tarry?
You may then wait too late

Not willing that any should perish
All come to the truth

Do not delay
Don't let spiritual death be your fate

Come to Him in obedient faith
And He'll break all those chains loose

Come to the Holy fountain
Have your sins washed away

Gospel Wednesday: Galatians Chapter 4: Free in Christ

Galatians Chapter 4

Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons…

Sacred Truth Friday: Guard Our Hearts

Today's Devo

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:23 NKJV

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Gospel Wednesday: Galatians Chapter 3: Baptism

Galatians Chapter 3

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. For as many as…

Cajun Shrimp Chowder Is The Best Comfort Food

Cajun seasoning is one of our secret weapons in the test kitchen. It makes everything better (the proof is in the Cajun Chicken Alfredo!)—including shrimp chowder. We use it here to season the shrimp before cooking it in bacon fat (!!).
