Sacred Truth Friday: How to Resist the Devil

Today's Devo

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

I Peter 5:8 NKJV

This verse warns us to be on guard. Satan seeks to devour us spiritually. He is after those who have submitted to God in Gospel obedience. So how do you resist him?

1. Humble yourself. Realize your need and dependence upon God.
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:6 NKJV

2. Submit to God. Surrender all to Him

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

James 4:7 NKJV

3. Draw near to God

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:8 NKJV

The devil will then flee from you.

Poet's Corner Thursday: My Goal and My Aim

My Goal and My Aim

My goal and my aim
Loyalty to Him
For He will return again

Or my spirit will depart
Returning unto God
So keep a faithful heart

Hold fast to His Word
Listen and obey
No sin can I afford

Live a right life
Reflecting Him each day
Flee from envy and strife

Embrace His divine will
He brings forever peace
Keep my spirit yielding and still

Look to the Beatitudes
Emulate His ways
Take on His compassionate attitude

Life is not forever
So cling to my Savior
And deny Him never

Gospel Wednesday: Galatians Chapter 1: False Gospel

We are now in our study of Galatians which is 6 chapters.

Galatians Chapter 1

Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now …

Sacred Truth Friday: Pursue After These

Today's Devo

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I Timothy 6:10 NKJV

Don't let greed, the love of money rule in your hearts.

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

I Timothy 6:11 NKJV

Instead pursue after these: righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. For these will lead to the greater reward: heaven itself (1 Peter 1:4).
