Gospel Wednesday: Hebrews Chapter 2

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? - Hebrews 2:1-4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews2:1-4&version=NKJV Hebrews 2:1-4 A. Sacred Truth Friday: Time

Stephen Wiggins was in Cushing, TX holding a Gospel Meeting. So Rick Elms preached the sermons. Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.”For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night. You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up:In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers. For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified. You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh. The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet t

Gospel Wednesday: Hebrews Chapter 1

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. - Hebrews 1:1-4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews1:1-4&version=NKJV In this passage it says God spoke to people through the prophets but now speaks to us through His Son Who is sitting at His right hand. For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son” ?But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He sa

Sacred Truth Friday: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee  stood and prayed thus with himself,  ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other;  for everyone who exalts himself will be  humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” - Luke 18:9-14 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke18:9-14&version=NKJV This parable contains a lesson in humility. Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.And He said to them, “You are t

Gospel Wednesday: Philemon

Philimon is a short book but contains a valuable lesson in forgiveness. Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our beloved friend and fellow laborer,to the beloved Apphia, Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house:Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother. Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to command you what is fitting, yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you —being such a one as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ—I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while

Sacred Truth Friday: Persevere

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. - Jude 1:3-4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jude1:3-4&version=NKJV There will be false teachers in this world who spread false doctrine. But still we must persevere. How to Persevere 1. Remember God's Word But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. - Jude 1:17-19 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?searc

Poet's Corner Thursday: Child of Promise

Child of Promise Child of promise, God sees your anxieties and fears Knows of your tossing and turning in the night And He counts all your tears Child of promise, He's with you in the storm And though the sky above be dark He won't leave you forlorn Child of promise, He understands how hard it can be So diligently seek His face And to His refuge flee Child of promise, He's still "Abba, Father" He cares for His own Of everlasting life, He's the author. Child of promise, He'll always keep His word Not a vow will be broken So let deeper faith be stirred.

Gospel Wednesday: Titus Chapter 3

Titus Chapter 3 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, content
