Gospel Wednesday: 2 Corinthians Chapter 6: Don't Receive His Grace in Vain

Image
1 Corinthians Chapter 6 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings; by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor,

Yummy Recipe Monday: Broken Spaghetti Risotto

Image
Broken Spaghetti Risotto Prep 10 m Cook 15 m Ready In 25 m Recipe By:Chef John "This pasta dish is not really risotto; it only refers to the similar technique used in that famous Italian dish. Like the grains of Arborio rice, pieces of broken pasta are tossed in hot butter or oil before the liquid is added, but here we're going even further, and toasting it to a gorgeous nut-brown. This gives the dish its signature look, as well as adds a subtle nutty flavor." Ingredients 1 tablespoon olive oil 8 ounces uncooked spaghetti, broken into 1 inch pieces 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 cups chicken broth 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste salt to taste 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, or to taste 1 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley Directions Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat; add spaghetti and toast, stirring constantly, until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir garlic into spaghetti pi

Uplifting Songs Saturday: My Rock and Strength

My Rock and Strength  What do I do when times are drear? When my heart cries bitter tears And I'm overwhelmed by fear? Refrain I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. What do I do in the valley low? Tempted and tried by the foe And I feel the inner woe? I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. What do I do in times of doubt? When I'm in a spiritual drought And it's a dry spell day in, day out? I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. I turn to You, I turn to You, I turn to You, my Rock and Strength. So I know you're by my side Always around when I have cried And released the inner sigh So I'll always turn to You, turn to You, turn to You my Rock and Strength. So I'll always turn to You, turn to You, turn to You my Rock and S

Gospel Wednesday: 2 Corinthians Chapter 5: Obey

Image
2 Corinthians Chapter 5 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive

Sacred Truth Friday: Honor God

Gospel Wednesday: 2 Corinthians Chapter 4: Veil of Unbelef

Image
2 Corinthians Chapter 4 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every s

Poet's Corner Thursday: The Last Day

The Last Day  Oh no. It's the last day I didn't walk the difficult narrow way My God I will meet I feel doom and defeat Before Christ's Holy throne I appear Shedding bitter tears I rejected Him time and again Now inwardly I cringe For my sins I'll pay the price Should've heeded my preacher's godly advice What was I thinking? My heart within me sinking All my deeds, words, thoughts, motives laid bare I can't cry "Foul" or "Unfair" I then hear those dreadful words Pierce my spirit like a sword: "Depart from Me, you worker of iniquity" The fires of hell I already see Oh no. It's the last day I didn't walk the difficult narrow way Oh glorious! It's the last day I walked the difficult narrow way I'm prepared to My God Who, all my life, guided me by His staff and rod I appear before Christ's throne On earth, I was never alone I obeyed His Gospel call He saved me from the fa

Gospel Wednesday: 2 Corinthians Chapter 3: Liberty

Image
2 Corinthians Chapter  3 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others , epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that  is, of the heart. And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit
