Sacred Truth Friday: Belong To Him

“Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.”
Romans 7:4 ESV

“and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”
1 Corinthians 3:23 ESV

“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.”
Romans 8:9 ESV

“So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”
1 Corinthians 3:21-23 ESV

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV

“You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men. So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.”
1 Corinthians 7:23-24 ESV

“And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”
Galatians 3:29 ESV

“And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Galatians 5:24 ESV

How exciting. These verses say, for us New Testament Christians, that we belong to Christ. We are not our own.

“For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 11:2 ESV
http://bible.com/59/2co.11.2.esv

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.”
Ephesians 5:25-27, 31-32 ESV

According to these verses the Church (that's us) is the Bride of Christ.

Because we belong to Him we have the responsibility of letting our light shine before men, spreading the Gospel wherever we go, boasting in Him alone, and fearing and serving Him all the days of our lives.

May we never forget to whom we belong and who we are: We belong to Christ, we are His, and we are redeemed New Testament Christians.

If you have not obeyed the Gospel, then you don't belong to Christ.

For details on how to obey the Gospel, read the posts titled Gospel Wednesday. Then obey so your sins can be forgiven and you can belong to Him, too.
