Sacred Truth Friday: God is Holy, Holy, Holy

“Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.”
Psalms 119:142 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/psa.119.142.nkjv

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.””
Isaiah 6:1-7 NKJV

As we can see from these verses, God is Holy, Holy, Holy. Isaiah had a vision of His Holiness in Isaiah chapter 6 after the death of King Uzziah. His righteousness never ends (Psalm 119:42) and His law is truth. His eyes are too pure to look on at sin.
"You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness.
Habakkuk 1:13 NKJV

Did a search on holy within my Bible app.

Will focus on a few verses that mention God's Holiness.

“But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.”

“Exalt the LORD our God, And worship at His holy hill; For the LORD our God is holy.”
Psalms 99:9 NKJV

“For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”
Leviticus 11:45 NKJV

“Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!”
I Chronicles 16:10 NKJV

“God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.”
Psalms 47:8 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/psa.47.8.nkjv

“Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.”
Psalms 96:9 NKJV

From these few verses we can see that God is holy, holy, holy, and we are not. We are sinful. Can be unforgiving, lustful, mean, and gossips.

And the only way to be saved from God's wrath against all sin (Romans 1:18-32 for all sin mentioned) is to obey the Gospel if you haven't done so already.

And for those of us who have obeyed the Gospel, we are to live holy lives by remaining faithful to God and obeying Him.

“but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.””
I Peter 1:15-16 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/1pe.1.15-16.nkjv

And when we sin, which we will, we confess, repent and receive His forgiveness.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
I John 1:7-10 NKJV

We should be, as New Testament Christians, be living holy lives before God and man. Let's do so to the best of our ability.

And for those not saved, obey the Gospel.

1 HEAR
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

17 So faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Romans 10:14;17 ESV

2 BELIEVE
24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.
John 8:24 ESV

3 REPENT
The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent
Acts 17:30 ESV

4 CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10 ESV

5 BE BAPTIZED
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:38 ESV
16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name. Acts 22:16 ESV

6 REMAIN FAITHFUL
10 Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10 ESV
11 I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. Revelation 3:11 ESV

Let's keep in mind God is Holy. We are not. But He sacrificed His Son, so we could be reconciled to Him. Amen.
