Sacred Truth Friday: The Wise and Foolish Virgins

                               Sermon: The Wise and
                               Foolish Virgins

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet  the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed,  they all slumbered and slept.“And at midnight  a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom  is coming; go out to meet him!’Then all those virgins arose and  trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and  the door was shut.“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying,  ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you,  I do not know you.’“Watch therefore, for you  know neither the day nor the hour  in which the Son of Man is coming. - Matthew 25:1-13 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew25:1-13&version=NKJV
Be wise and ready for His return. He could return, literally, any second. Watch! Only God knows when the second coming will occur (Matthew 24:36). If we knew when Jesus was returning we would procrastinate obeying the Gospel and living for God. So God, in His divine wisdom, hid that date from us. Don't listen to false prophets who claim they know when Jesus will return.

Preperation: obey the Gospel. Then live a faithful, dedicated life to God. Very few will take that narrow way (Matthew 7:13-14). Many will be lost. Sad but true. At the judgment there will be a great separation between the saved and the unsaved (Matthew 25:31-46). Friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors will be separated. Sad but true.
That's why the Gospel must be obeyed today. That's why the time to live faithfully to God is today.

Will Jesus say to us I never knew you? (Matthew 7:23). Pray it not be so. And think on this. Once death comes (Hebrews 9:27), there is no second chance to get right with God.

Another wonderful sermon from Stephen Wiggins.
