Sacred Truth Friday: The Rapture

                          Sermon
                          The Rapture

In the popular  Left Behind movie Christians are secretly, silently taken up to heaven while the rest of humanity is left behind to face the seven years of tribulation. But does the Bible support this? No.

1. First the rapture is not silent
The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And those who have died believing in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians4:16-17&version=NCV

2. Everyone will see Jesus when He returns
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. - Revelation 1:7 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation1:7&version=NKJV

3. Everyone will be resurrected
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will  hear His voiceand come forth— those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. - John 5:28-29 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John5:28-29&version=NKJV

4. Christ's kingdom is here and now, not in the distant future
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, - Colossians 1:13 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians1:13&version=NKJV
