Sacred Truth Friday: Jesus Priest Forever

Hebrews 7:17; 21

For it is witnessed of him,
“You are a priest forever,
after the order of Melchizedek.”

“The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest forever.’”

Psalm 110:4

The LORD has sworn
and will not change his mind,
“You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek.”

These verses say Jesus is a priest forever  after Melchizedek. (Melchizedek, a high priest,  blessed Abram, who was later to become Abraham in Genesis chapter 14. ). 

But Jesus is a better, higher priest seeing as He sacrifices Himself for our sins. The Levitical priesthood with its daily sacrifices for sins by the Levite priests was not working out. So God provided His Son as the perfect, atoning, sinless sacrifice. Praise God. Jesus is, indeed, priest forever!
