What Does The Scripture Say: Baptist church Part 2

What Does The Scripture Say

though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, - Hebrews 5:8-9 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews5:8-9&version=NKJV

We are in part 2 of examining the Baptist church.

Doctrines of the Baptist church

1. A church can leave out certain requirements of the Gospel and still be pleasing to God.

and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, - 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2Thessalonians1:7-9&version=NKJV

The Gospel must obeyed. Or we're not pleasing to God.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. - Matthew 7:21 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew7:21&version=NKJV

We must do God's will.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. - John 14:15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John14:15&version=NKJV

If we love Him, we will keep His commandments.

2. Baptism not essential to salvation.

He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. - Mark 16:16 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark16:16&version=NKJV

Belief+baptism=salvation.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 2:38 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts2:38&version=NKJV

Baptism in Christ Jesus for remission of sins.

And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ - Acts 22:16 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts22:16&version=NKJV

Wash away sins through baptism. The water is not magical. But it's how we contact the saving blood of Christ: through baptism.

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, - 1 Peter 3:21 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Peter3:21&version=NKJV

Baptism essential for salvation.

3. Frequency of Lord's Supper left up to man.

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come. - 1 Corinthians 11:23-34 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Corinthians11:23-34&version=NKJV

We are commanded to observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday. We are to examine ourselves and remember His sacrifice for us.

Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. - Acts 20:7 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts20:7&version=NKJV

Every first day of the week, the early church came together to observe the Lord's Supper.

4. Got to be voted in to be a part of the Baptist church.

praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. - Acts 2:47 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts2:47&version=NKJV

People added to the church once they obey the Gospel. No voting in.
