Sacred Truth Friday: Christian Living

Sacred Truth Friday

This past Sunday Stephen Wiggins, the minister at my church preached a wonderful sermon from 1 Thessalonians 5:12-23.

1. Respect the elders in the church
And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. - 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:12-13&version=NKJV

2. Promote peace
and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. - 1 Thessalonians 5:13 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:13&version=NKJV

3. Be attuned to the needs of others in the church
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. - 1 Thessalonians 5:14 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:14&version=NKJV

4. Don't let church members retaliate.
See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. - 1 Thessalonians 5:15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:15&version=NKJV

in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:18&version=NKJV

8. Don't quench the Spirit or despise God's Word.
Do not quench the Spirit.Do not despise prophecies. - 1 Thessalonians 5:19-20 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:19-20&version=NKJV

9. Hold fast to good and abstain from all evil.
Test all things; hold fast what is good.Abstain from every form of evil. - 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:21-22&version=NKJV

If we do these things the result is God will sanctify us completely and we will be blameless at Jesus' second coming.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Thessalonians 5:23 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Thessalonians5:23&version=NKJV
