What Does The Scripture Say: Baptist church Part 1

What Does The Scripture Say

Baptist church Part 1

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. - Matthew 16:18 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew16:18&version=NKJV

For the next two Saturdays we will examine the Baptist church.

When: 1607-1609. This is when the Baptist church started. Far removed from the Lord's church.

The Lord's church started in the 1st century during the Roman Empire (Acts 2) as predicted by Daniel (Daniel 2:44-45).

The Baptist movement started in London, England, whereas the Lord's church started in Jerusalem.

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it.Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. - Isaiah 2:2-4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah2:2-4&version=NKJV

This was predicted by Isaiah.
This all took place in Acts chapter 2.

It started during the Reformation of the 16th century. They were known as Anabaptists and indoctrinated by Menno Simmons the founder of the Mennoite religion.
Anabaptists believed that those who had been sprinkled as children needed to be re- baptized as adults.

But the Lord's church began in God's mind.

And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” - Genesis 3:15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis3:15&version=NKJV

to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, - Ephesians 3:10-11 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians3:10-11&version=NKJV

Baptists don't even believe baptism is essential to salvation.

The founder of the Baptist church is John Smith who separated from the Church of England.

But only Jesus has the power to start a church.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. - Matthew 16:18 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew16:18&version=NKJV

He built only His church.

Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. - Acts 20:28 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts20:28&version=NKJV

He purchased the church with His blood.

The head of the Baptist church is the Southern Baptist convention.

And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” - Matthew 15:9 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew15:9&version=NKJV

They are teaching commandments of men.

And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. - Ephesians 1:22-23 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians1:22-23&version=NKJV

Jesus is the head of the Lord's church.

The authority of the Baptist church is tradition and creeds.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2Timothy3:16-17&version=NKJV

But the authority for the Lord's church is the Bible.

As you can already see the Baptist church is not the Lord's church.

If you are in this church, leave immediately and obey the Gospel today. Be added to the Lord's church (Acts 2:47).
