In Depth Bible Study: Standing on the Edge of Eternity Lesson 2

My heart is severely pained within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me. - Psalm 55:4 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm55:4&version=NKJV
Death the king of terrors.

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. - Hebrews 2:14-15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews2:14-15&version=NKJV
Jesus conquered death.

This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son  in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.Seth lived one hundred and five years, and begot Enosh. After he begot Enosh, Seth lived eight hundred and seven years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years; and he died.Enosh lived ninety years, and begot Cainan. After he begot Cainan, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years; and he died.Cainan lived seventy years, and begot Mahalalel. After he begot Mahalalel, Cainan lived eight hundred and forty years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years; and he died.Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and begot Jared. After he begot Jared, Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years; and he died.Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Enoch. After he begot Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died. - Genesis 5:1-20 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis5:1-20&version=NKJV
And he died. It says it over and over: and he died.

Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” - Acts 24:25 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts24:25&version=NKJV
Gospel must be obeyed now. Not at a "convenient time".

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. - Hebrews 9:27-28 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews9:27-28&version=NKJV
Death and judgement.  Christ died and will return. Be prepared!

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”;whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” - James 4:13-15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James4:13-15&version=NKJV
We all have plans for tomorrow. But that could all be easily derailed by death. Tomorrow may never come.

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” - Acts 26:28 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts26:28&version=NKJV
Almost a Christian is not enough. We must be all in for Jesus. Obey the Gospel and serve Him.

And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” - Acts 21:10-14 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts21:10-14&version=NKJV
Paul was willing to die for Jesus.

knowing that shortly I must  put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. - 2 Peter 1:14-15 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2Peter1:14-15&version=NKJV
Peter knew he would die. Secural history days he was crucified upside down.
