What Does The Scripture Say: Seventh Day Adventists
What Does The Scripture Say
Seventh Day Adventists
In that He says, “A new covenant ,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 8:13 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/heb.8.13.NKJV
The old covenant has passed away. The new has come.
Today we will examine Seventh Day Adventists to see if it lines up with the Bible.
This religion started with two false prophets.
William Miller, in 1818, predicted that 25 years later, the world would be wound up. This did not happen. He predicted from March 21 1843-March 21 1844 Christ would return.
This clearly did not happen. For the world was not destroyed (1 Peter 3:10). It's still here.
Ellen G White agreed with Miller's prophecy claiming it a work of God when it clearly wasn't. She predicted the world would end in 1843, 1844, 1845, 1851.
Clearly this never happened. We are still here.
Also Seventh Day Adventists promote false doctrines.
They say Christians must keep the Sabbath using Genesis 1 and 2 as proof. But God rested from His work. It was not a command for all people. The law of Moses was for Jews only after the exodus from Egypt.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:8 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/exo.20.8.NKJV
He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel. He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the Lord !
Psalms 147:19-20 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/psa.147.19-20.NKJV
This law was clearly for the Jews only.
“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord .
Jeremiah 31:31-32 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/jer.31.31-32.NKJV
God said there was a new covenant coming.
And that new covenant is the covenant of Christ.
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Colossians 2:14 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/col.2.14.NKJV
Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.
Romans 7:4 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/rom.7.4.NKJV
For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
Ephesians 2:14-15 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/eph.2.14-15.NKJV
Look what these Scriptures teach: Christ has wiped out the law. We are dead to the law that we may be married to Christ. Christ has abolished the law. We are therefore not obligated to keep the Sabbath.
Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
Acts 20:7 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/act.20.7.NKJV
Early Christians came together on the first day of the week, not the Sabbath.
In Mark 2 Jesus says He is Lord of the Sabbath. But at that time He was talking to Jews about Jewish law which was put away at the cross.
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Hebrews 4:9-10 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/heb.4.9-10.NKJV
And this passage is talking about eternal rest, not the Sabbath as the Seventh Day Adventists claim.
We are dead to the Ten Commandments the law of Moses. But that does not mean we can do whatever we want. We are under the law of Christ who brought over 9 of the Ten Commandments and gave them new meaning.
Hell is a myth that the Seventh Day Adventists teach.
And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Matthew 25:46 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.25.46.NKJV
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:8 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/rev.21.8.NKJV
where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
Mark 9:46 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/mrk.9.46.NKJV
Scripture clearly teaches that hell is real.
The Seventh Day Adventists promote a false plan of salvation in that they say we must be led by the Holy Spirit, sense our need, we acknowledge our sinfulness, we repent, we have faith.
Basically faith only. But Scripture clearly teaches otherwise.
1. Hear
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/rom.10.17.NKJV
2. Believe
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
John 8:24 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.8.24.NKJV
3. Repent
I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
Luke 13:3 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/luk.13.3.NKJV
4. Confess
“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 10:32-33 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.10.32-33.NKJV
5. Be baptized
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mark 16:16 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/mrk.16.16.NKJV
6. Remain faithful
Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Revelation 2:10 NKJV
https://bible.com/bible/114/rev.2.10.NKJV
If you are caught up in Seventh Day Adventists then leave before it's everlasting too late and obey the Gospel. Be added to the Lord's church (Acts 2:47).
